CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS: Exploring How Women over 50 Experience the Intersection of Ageism and Sexism, and Internalized Ageism in Counseling Master’s Programs: An Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis Study
Hello counseling community!
I am a Ph.D. candidate in Counselor Education and Supervision at Oregon State University. To fulfill the degree requirements for graduation, I am conducting a study to explore how women over 50 experience the intersection of ageism and sexism, and internalized ageism in their master's in counseling program. This study has been approved by Oregon State University's Institutional Review Board (Study Number HE-2024-1038).
Eligibility:
· Identified as female when they were in their master's in counseling program, inclusive of women assigned female at birth and transgender women
· Were over the age of 50 when they were enrolled in their program
· Graduated from a CACREP-accredited master's counseling program in or after 2019 or enrolled and no more than one term from graduation.
· Self-reported experiencing the intersection of ageism and sexism within their master's counseling program.
What's Involved:
· A confidential, one-on-one interview (via zoom) and review of preliminary findings (approximately 90 minutes total)
· Sharing your experiences, challenges, and successes
· Contributing to the understanding of the intersection of ageism and sexism and internalized ageism for women over 50 in counseling master’s programs
