The University of South Carolina doctoral program in Counselor Education is now recruiting applicants for the 2016 doctoral cohort. Applications are due December 1, 2015. Qualified applicants are committed to full-time study and excellence in research, teaching, supervision, clinical practice, professional involvement, and other scholarly pursuits. The USC Counselor Education Ph.D. program is CACREP-accredited. Additionally, the program offers an Ed.S. degree in Marriage and Family Counseling and School Counseling as well as an undergraduate Counseling minor. Program faculty and students are actively involved in externally and internally funded projects and have received multiple local, state, and national honors for their professional contributions. Our 7 full-time faculty members are engaged in research and teaching, and are active leaders in professional associations. The doctoral program is focused on training students to obtain positions as faculty members in Counselor Education programs. Doctoral students have opportunities for intensive mentorship with the faculty in research, clinical intervention, scholarly writing, teaching, supervision, and service. Additionally, students have extensive teaching opportunities within the counseling minor program. Recent graduates have obtained desirable faculty positions throughout the country. The USC faculty contribute unique perspectives and have a variety of national and international counseling experience. Faculty have specific expertise and research specializations in areas such as relationship education, family counseling, multicultural counseling , supervision, career development, school counseling, adolescent well-being, and group counseling.
