The University of Central Florida (UCF) is accepting applications for the Ph.D. program in Counselor Education.
Early deadline for application is December 20, 2014 (for best financial consideration). Final deadline is January 15, 2015.
Ranked 7th in the nation by US News and World Report, the UCF Counselor Education program is designed specifically for those who wish to pursue careers as counselor educators at the university level or as supervisors in schools or agencies.
The UCF Counselor Education program is fully accredited with the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). In addition to advanced curricular experiences in counseling, courses are designed to examine the fundamental issues and theory of teaching adults in higher education, research, supervision, and consultation, and to provide supervised experiences in each area. The UCF Community Counseling and Research Clinic is a large full service, outpatient counseling center that provides free individual and group counseling, couples and family counseling, and play therapy services to over 2000 individuals each year in the Central Florida area. As a hub for teaching, supervision and research in the Counselor Education program, the clinic provides a unique opportunity for doctoral students’ development in teaching, supervision and research.
The University of Central Florida is a major metropolitan research university, providing the academic core for central Florida. The multi-campus university enrolls approximately 61,200 students and is the fastest growing university in Florida. The main campus is located in northeastern Orlando, a growing diverse community of nearly 2 million people. The College of Education and Human Performance employs about 125 full‐time faculty members serving approximately 5,700 students in 12 undergraduate programs and 25 graduate programs. The College is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (formerly NCATE).
