Dear Counselor Education Students,

Welcome back for the 2020-2021 academic year!  We trust that you had a good and productive summer. 

There are some key dates and tasks that you need to focus upon depending on where you are in your plan of study. The forms mentioned in the key dates are located on our program website (www.nccucounseling.com) on the student page.

Please note that all graduation paperwork for December graduates must be typed and sent to your adviser by August 21st at 5:00 pm.

Fall 2020 Key Dates

 

August 21

Graduation forms for December must be typed and sent to your adviser by 5pm.  Follow the instructions on our website regarding the forms.

August 24

First day of classes.

August 28

Drop/Add period ends at 4:00 pm.  Classes dropped for all students without payment arrangements.


Field Site Supervisor Orientation for all fall Practicum and Internship site supervisors at 3:00 pm (via WebEx).

September 7

Labor Day, No Classes

September 13

CSI Test Preparation Workshop - Deadline to register is September 6.

CPCE testing window for fall 2020. More information to come.

Chi Sigma Iota Induction Ceremony- 6:00pm (online)

Online open house for prospective students - 7:30pm

September 28

Last day to withdraw from the university with a prorated tuition and fee adjustment

October 5-9

Mid-Program Portfolio Review for students applying for Practicum in the spring. Students must complete the Mid-Program Portfolio Review before they can be placed in Practicum. The review will consist of an oral examination of the student’s work uploaded into Foliotek to that point. During this 15-minute review, the faculty and student will discuss the student’s field placement plans. To sign up for the review go to www.nccuCounseling.com.


NCE:  By October 5, 2020Approved applicants will receive candidate ID and instructions on setting up an account from Pearson VUE.  ALL applicants will need to create an account with Pearson VUE to access the exam. October 16- November 21st  Applicants sit for the NCE through a Pearson VUE site

Last day for graduate students to withdraw from a class with a WC.


October 16- November 21st Applicants sit for the NCE through a Pearson VUE site

Founder’s Day / Convocation (Homecoming is October 31)

November 2-6

Final Defense (Mock Interview) Dates for December 2020 applicants for graduation. Sign up for the defense/interview at www.nccuCounseling.com.

November 4-6

NC School Counselor Association Annual Conference

November 10

MOAs for Spring 2021 placement due to Dr. Blount

November 16

Last day of classes for graduating students

Last day to submit theses/projects

November 20

Final grades for graduating students due in Banner by 5pm

November 24

Last day of classes for all students

November 25-29

Thanksgiving recess; no classes

November 29

Online open house for prospective students - 7:30pm

November 30

All grades due in Banner by 5pm

December 3

December graduate Exit Interview at 3:00 pm. All surveys should be completed so graduates can be cleared at this meeting. Surveys can be found at www.nccuCounseling.com.  Meeting held via WebEX.

December 4

Commencement rehearsal  /  9-10:30am for graduate students.

Chancellor’s reception for graduating students and their families at 6pm. 

December 5

Commencement ceremony  /  9am for graduate students

December 8
