NCCA Emerging Leaders: The Future of Our Profession

https://www.n2ca.org/emerging-leaders

The North Carolina Counseling Association (NCCA) encourages its members to become actively involved in leadership positions within the organization. The NCCA Emerging Leaders Program is designed to provide graduate counseling students and new professionals with cultivating experiences that support leadership skill and competency development, and diverse opportunities to actively participate in NCCA Executive Board meetings, divisions, and/or committees. (Interested in being a mentor to one of the emerging leaders? Mentor application is available. Click here to submit.)

Emerging Leaders (ELs) can expect to receive ongoing mentorship, build professional networks, and gain exposure to the responsibilities associated with fulfilling elected leadership positions. Emerging leaders are encouraged to continue their service for NCCA and other professional counseling organizations in the future.

The individual will be selected from one of the following applicant categories to participate in this program:

  • Graduate counseling students (master’s or doctoral)
  • Newly licensed counseling professionals (within one-year post graduation)
  • New counselor educators (within one-year post graduation)

  • Receive complimentary registration to the 2026 NCCA Annual Conference.
  • Be featured at the 2026 NCCA Annual Conference business meeting.
  • In addition to committee or division work, ELs are invited to the scheduled.
  • NCCA Executive Board meetings, which usually last 1 hour.
  • Receive mentorship from an NCCA leader.
  • Be recognized as on NCCA’s website.
  • Be featured in the NCCA newsletter, Carolina Counselor.
  • Have the opportunity to bolster and expand resume content throughout the leadership experiences.
