Description:
Safe Zone - Language surrounding the LGBTQ+ community consistently changes. This training begins with an introduction to the usage of pronouns, common terminology, and ways to be an effective ally to members of the LGBTQ+ community.

Title: The Duality of Mothering and Career Satisfaction
Presenters: Dr. Regina Gavin Williams, Ph.D., LCMHC, Alyx Beckwith, Ph.D., LCMHCS
Description:
Attendees will begin by generally exploring how the world of work is viewed as an important factor of one’s identity. The presenters will then share research regarding the multiple barriers experienced by mothers balancing their work and parenting roles, with specific attention on mothers working within helping professions. Attendees will be engaged in a discussion regarding their own personal and professional experiences of the barriers working mothers face, as well as discuss the concept of what they feel it means to achieve career satisfaction. Strategies counselors, supervisors, and counselor educators can use in their work to support mothers’ career satisfaction will be shared.

Nu Chi Chi, NCCU's Chapter of Chi Sigma Iota (Counseling Honor Society), would like to welcome everyone to the Spring 2024 semester. You may recall that over the past academic year, Nu Chi Chi hosted monthly virtual social hours for the counseling program. The chapter plans to continue these events throughout the Spring 2024 semester. These events will continue to occur on the 4th Sunday of every month, from 7:00-8:00pm (ET). These events are open to all students and faculty and provide a space for us to get to know & support each other while building community. If you're available – we'd love to see you. Pop in and say hello!

Please make an appointment to speak with your advisor ASAP, if you haven't already met with them for advising. Summer and Fall semester registration has already begun.
Don't forget that ALL summer offerings are subject to faculty availability during the summer. No summer courses are guaranteed - as no faculty are obligated to teach during the summer months.
