Congratulations to Trent Stamer, NCCU Clinical Mental Health Counseling student, who was selected as the recipient of the 2025 Nancy Howell Scholarship by the Licensed Clinical Counselors of North Carolina (LCCNC).
This award was designed to acknowledge graduate students who demonstrate leadership potential and advocacy initiatives in counseling.
In 2004, LCCNC created the Nancy Howell Scholarship to honor the life of a LCCNC Board member who died tragically that year in a car accident. Nancy Campbell Howell, died suddenly at 33 year young on Aug. 18, 2004, She graduated from UNC-Greensboro with a bachelors and received her counseling graduate degree from Appalachian State University. Five years prior to her death, Nancy worked as a school counselor at North Davie Middle & High School. LCCNC created the scholarship to honor her life and her passion and dedication for the counseling profession.
The scholarship is designed to recognize counseling graduate students who demonstrate leadership as counseling students and potential as practicing LCMHCs.
The award will be formally presented during the LCCNC Networking Event and Annual Awards Ceremony at the Forsyth County Central Library on Saturday, November 15, 2025.
